Job Summary

Under the division of University Marketing & Communications, Marketing Communications creates proactive, innovative, and comprehensive marketing, communications and branding strategies that highlight Drexel’s academic strengths and research, while emphasizing the value and potential of the experiential education model. Marketing Communications works closely with colleges, schools, academic and administrative staff throughout the University to create comprehensive marketing and communications strategies that serve the University’s overarching branding, recruitment and retention goals to meet or exceed the enrollment and revenue objectives. Marketing Communications defines, protects, and disseminates the Drexel University brand while clearly illustrating its unique value proposition.

Drexel Marketing Communications seeks a Project Manager. The Project Manager is a key member of the Marketing Communications department partnering with many, if not all, constituent groups within administrative units throughout the University. The position will also work closely with the individual schools and colleges as well as our centers and institutes.

The role is responsible for handling project timelines, traffic, feedback, and approvals; vendor management; supporting the Strategy team by working within inventory and communication plan management; and supporting the Director of Project Management with office processes, student worker supervision, photo and commercial/video shoot development, large University partnerships and initiatives such as national advertising campaigns and Commencement, and other delegated tasks as assigned. In addition, they may support the creative team by reviewing and creating digital and print specifications and ensuring digital and print production quality control according to industry standards.

The Project Manager will support the management of strategic partners and vendors, set and manage internal and external meetings, and provide preliminary agendas and post-mortem summary reports for all assignments. Basic office manager duties are also required.

This is a Hybrid position, working in-person throughout the week.

Essential Functions

  • Interact on a daily basis with Marketing and Communications divisional team leaders and academic colleagues within the institution to provide timely delivery of completed projects.
  • Day-to-day includes project trafficking, securing and processing feedback and approvals, organizing content changes, inventory and communication plan management, partnering with Strategy team, and acting as overall knowledge base for project assignment journey. 
  • Support and traffic and hold the division to process with the management of a significant volume of complex, multichannel marketing materials for Drexel University. 
  • Collaborate with creative staff to manage strategic partners and production vendors (print/web), support and/or write and traffic specs, and manage project schedules. 
  • Work with Project Management and Strategy teams to develop project timelines and drive oversight of key project deliverables to meet project milestones. 
  • Follow tracking systems and processes that allow tracking projects from beginning to end and deliver on-time materials. 
  • Operationalize and manage creative video and photo shoots and support asset management with creative staff.
  • Maintain accountability for meeting organization and support office process and function.
  • Supervise and manage work-study students and co-ops.
  • Research and share the latest trends in marketing, project management technology, and developments in the Higher Education field.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of a Bachelor's Degree or the equivalent combination of education and work experience. (Please review the Equivalency Chart for additional information.)
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in project management and/or production within a creative/communications field.
  • Professional demeanor and ability to work in a fast-paced atmosphere.
  • Working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite (especially Photoshop, Illustrator) and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Working knowledge of print and digital production process.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Occasional weekend and evening work.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 1 year of experience working for or within an academic environment.
  • Interactive project management experience.
  • Experience with work management systems (especially Asana).
  • Experience with Content Management Systems and/or CRM systems.

Additional Information

This position is classified as Exempt, grade J. Compensation for this grade ranges from $47,490 - $71,230 per year. Please note that the offered rate for this position typically aligns with the minimum to midrange of this grade, but it can vary based on the successful candidate’s qualifications and experience, department budget, and an internal equity review.
