Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated individual with a BS degree in Biology, Neuroscience, or a related field who is interested in brain research and neuroscience. The successful candidate will contribute to studies investigating the neural circuit dynamics underlying learning, memory, and cognition.
The candidate will gain hands-on experience with a range of experimental approaches, including optogenetics, in vivo electrophysiological recordings, and behavioral testing in mice. Responsibilities will include conducting and supporting validation experiments, performing surgical procedures, carrying out behavioral assays, analyzing preliminary data, and processing and evaluating histological tissue.
Prior experience working with rodents, behavioral testing, and histological techniques is highly desirable. Programming and data analysis skills are a plus. The ideal candidate is enthusiastic about neuroscience research, eager to learn new experimental approaches, attentive to experimental detail, and able to work effectively both independently and collaboratively in a research environment.

This position is grant-funded; employment is contingent upon the continued availability of those funds.   

Essential Functions

• Mouse behavioral testing & surgery 
• Optogenetic experiments 
• In vivo electrophysiological recording 
• Processing and evaluation of histological tissue 
• Data analysis 

Required Qualifications

• Minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in or the equivalent combination of education and work experience.

• Minimum of One year of experience,  including undergraduate lab research
• Undergraduate research experience working with rodents, behavioral testing, and histological techniques is highly desirable. Programming and data analysis skills are a plus.
• The ideal candidate is enthusiastic about neuroscience research, eager to learn new experimental approaches, attentive to experimental detail, and able to work effectively both independently and collaboratively in a research environment.

Preferred Qualifications

• Biology, Neuroscience - prior experience working with rodents, behavioral testing, and histological techniques is highly desirable.

Additional Information
This position is classified as Non-Exempt, grade F. Compensation for this grade ranges from $15 to $23.31 per hour. Please note that the offered rate for this position will vary based on the successful candidate’s qualifications and experience, department budget, and an internal equity review.
