Job Summary

The Director is responsible for providing leadership and oversight of alumni engagement initiatives for Drexel University's academic schools and colleges. They will develop and implement comprehensive engagement strategies that strengthen alumni relationships, increase volunteer participation, support fundraising and pipeline development efforts, and advance the goals of the Office of Institutional Advancement and the University.

The Director works closely with deans, faculty, development officers, and administrative leaders to identify engagement priorities and develop meaningful opportunities that connect alumni to their academic home. This position supervises an Associate Director and Assistant Director and provides leadership for all school-and-college-based alumni engagement programs and initiatives.

This is a hybrid position, working in person a few days a week.

Essential Functions

  • Develop and execute strategic engagement plans designed to strengthen alumni affinity, participation, volunteer involvement, professional networking, and philanthropic and student support. 
  • Serve as the primary Alumni and Constituent Engagement liaison to assigned schools and colleges.
  • Meet regularly with deans, faculty, administrators, and development colleagues to identify opportunities for partnership. 
  • Identify opportunities to increase meaningful alumni engagement within assigned schools and colleges while aligning with Institutional Advancement objectives. 
  • Oversee planning and execution of school- and college-specific alumni events that support Dean’s priorities, both virtual and in-person. Monitor effectiveness and make strategic recommendations for improvement.
  • Partner closely with development colleagues to strengthen the alumni engagement pipeline and support fundraising priorities and campaign initiatives. Facilitate connections to maximize institutional impact.
  • Collaborate on strategies that identify, cultivate, and engage alumni with the capacity and inclination for volunteer leadership and philanthropic support. 
  • Build relationships with alumni leaders and volunteers to support programming, mentorship, networking, advocacy, and philanthropic initiatives.
  • Support alumni stewardship efforts through personalized and strategic outreach. Provide insights regarding alumni interests and participation.
  • Track and analyze alumni engagement activities, volunteer participation, event attendance, and relationship management within the Advance database and other institutional systems. 
  • Supervise the Associate Director and Assistant Director of School and College Programs; Establish performance goals, provide professional development opportunities, and conduct regular check ins.
  • Represent Alumni and Constituent Engagement at university and external events. 
  • Other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of a Bachelor's Degree or the equivalent combination of education and work experience. (Please review the Equivalency Chart for additional information.)
  • Minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible experience in alumni relations, constituent engagement, volunteer management, advancement or higher education administration.
  • Understanding of volunteer leadership structures and constituent engagement best practices.
  • Demonstrated success in strategic program development and implementation.
  • Experience working collaboratively with senior academic leaders, faculty, volunteers, and advancement professionals.
  • Excellent project management, organizational, and leadership skills.
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to utilize data to drive decision-making.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and competing deadlines effectively.
  • Ability and willingness to work evenings and weekends as required.
  • Ability to represent Institutional Advancement effectively across the University.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in higher education or related field
  • Experience supervising professional staff.
  • Knowledge of fundraising and development principles.

Additional Information
This position is classified as Exempt, grade M. Compensation for this grade ranges from $82,920 - $124,380 per year. Please note that the offered rate for this position will vary based on the successful candidate’s qualifications and experience, department budget, and an internal equity review.
