Job Summary

The Urban Health Collaborative (UHC) is seeking a dynamic Senior Project Manager to support strategic, planning, and programmatic activities at the UHC. The UHC is a multi-disciplinary research center at the Dornsife School of Public Health, Drexel University, focused on improving health in cities. Launched in 2015, the UHC has grown exponentially and is now internationally recognized for its work to advance urban health, health equity, and environmental sustainability in the US and globally. Since its inception, the UHC has secured $70 million in external funding, has supported trainees and training activities in urban health, and has partnered with community groups, public health practitioners, and urban health networks in the US and globally to advance work to promote urban health. The UHC is committed to advancing an antiracist urban health agenda and ensuring that all its practices and policies advance antiracism and support diversity, equity and inclusion.

The UHC Senior Project Manager will work closely with the UHC Directors and the UHC Steering Committee in developing a programmatic agenda for the UHC. They will also work with the Directors in identifying and coordinating potential funding opportunities and other opportunities to advance the mission of the UHC; they organize outreach and represent the UHC in events and for external partners, and in general ensure that the UHC is connected to other Dornsife School of Public Health activities, to Drexel University, and to external academic and non-academic partners. This person will also work with the Deputy Director for Administration, UHC Core Leads, and the Antiracism Committee in coordinating activities across cores and committees and contributing to tools to track the UHC research portfolio to conduct annual reporting and metric tracking. The position will be based at the UHC and will report to UHC Co-Director, Dr. Usama Bilal.

Essential Functions

Strategy and Planning:
- Work with UHC leadership to support a programmatic agenda for the UHC and identify areas for innovation and new initiatives.
- Play a key role in identifying and coordinating fundraising opportunities including philanthropy, federal and non-federal grants and contracts.
- Develop an annual UHC report for internal and external audiences as well as funders/donors.
- Support creation and meetings of any UHC advisory boards.

Partnerships and Outreach:
- Identify opportunities within and outside Drexel University for the UHC to advance its mission and objectives and develop and implement a strategy for these activities.
- Organize outreach and represent the UHC during priority conferences or events (internal or external).
- Serve as point of contact for the UHC for external partners (e.g., NNIP, ICUH, etc.).
- Support UHC communications manager in identifying key content to highlight in strategic UHC communications.

Programs and Coordination:
- Support the creation and contribute content to a comprehensive UHC research portfolio dashboard to track and visualize research initiatives/projects, progress, and key metrics.
- Oversee, coordinate and assist in implementation of programmatic activities across UHC cores (research and data, training, community engagement, and policy) and externally funded projects ensuring that there is communication and integration and that synergisms are maximized.
- Support the Directors in the scientific organization of the UHC symposium and UHC day and support their planning and execution in collaboration with the executive administrator.

Other:
- Serve as backup during transitional periods for select project manager tasks.
- Other duties as assigned by the Directors.

Required Qualifications

  • A master's degree in public health or a similar field or Equivalent
  • Interest and/or experience in issues of urban health, health equity, or environmental sustainability.
  • Experience advancing antiracism and diversity/equity and inclusion work in organizations.
  • At least 5 years of experience in a non-profit, government, or academic setting; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Advanced organizational and project management skills, including the ability to juggle multiple time sensitive competing priorities.
  • Demonstrated ability to work well with diverse teams and a variety of stakeholders (such as senior leadership, faculty, staff, and students).
  • Demonstrated ability to motivate and engage people and influence through partnership building.
  • Solid analytical skills required with the ability to analyze and interpret information, present clear and concise recommendations and intervene effectively as needed.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, including the ability to deliver effective presentations.
    Excellent skills in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Interest and/or experience in research and/or policy.
  • Experience working with trainees such as postdoctoral fellow and students.
  • Experience in communications.

Additional Information

This position is classified as Exempt, and a grade L. Compensation for this grade ranges from a minimum of $62,630.00 to a maximum of $93,950.00 per year. Please note that the offered rate for this position typically aligns with the minimum to midrange of this grade, but it can vary based on the successful candidate’s qualifications and experience, department budget, and an internal equity review.
