Job Summary

A team of two full-time Field Surveyors is needed to travel throughout the State of Louisiana over a two-week period to identify and document businesses that sell tobacco. This survey is a required part of the federally funded Synar Program that aims to reduce youth access to tobacco in the U.S. The Field Survey team will drive/walk through specified pre-planned routes in selected parishes spanning from Caddo to Jefferson. Field Surveyors enter all businesses along the routes that may sell cigarettes to confirm and collect basic information.

Essential Functions

  • Training and other duties assigned by supervisor.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • A HS Diploma or GED is required.
  • 1 year of relevant experience is required.
  • All applicants must be at least 18 years of age..
  • Highly responsible and reliable; can work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to use a GPS and follow written directions to navigate and adhere to a very detailed canvassing protocol.
  • At least one member of the survey team must have a valid driver’s license and be able to drive throughout the state of Louisiana.
  • Experience with canvassing a large geographic area preferred.
  • Available full time to travel by car for a two-week period (estimated start date June 1, 2024, with approximately 1 month for hiring process)

Additional Information

This is a full-time, temporary position classified as Non-Exempt.  The offered pay is based on the successful candidate’s qualifications and experience, department budget, and an internal equity review.
