Job Summary 

One Research Coordinator (RC) is sought to support a research study on the impact of legal financial obligations (LFOs; e.g., fees, fines, restitution) within the criminal justice system. RC will oversee a research portfolio related to the implementation of an innovative LFO policy and support both a process analysis of the program and the development of a high-quality, causal evaluation.

Essential Functions 

  • Management of study records, both paper and electronic.
  • Project coordination.
  • Communication of process and outcomes findings to academic and non-academic stakeholders.
  • Data coding and management.
  • Academic writing, for technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Adhering to codes of the conduct for research, university activities and criminal justice agency partners

Required Qualifications 

  • Minimum of a Master’s degree in Criminology/Criminal Justice or equivalent.
  • Ability to analyze data and produce reports using R, STATA or a comparable statistical software package is required.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills are required.
  • Experience with project management and field-driven inquiry is strongly preferred. 
  • Experience with the management and analysis of large administrative databases strongly preferred.
  • Experience with primary data collection, particularly with vulnerable populations and in conducting confidential semi-structured interviews/ surveys is beneficial.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Training or direct experience with qualitative and/or quantitative data collection.
  • Comfort with conducting engaged research with criminal justice agency staff, members of vulnerable populations, and others.
  • Having a high degree of organization and attentiveness to detail.
  • Familiarity with the structure and operation of the criminal justice system from a theoretical and practical perspective.

Additional Information 

This position is classified as an exempt grade I. Compensation for this grade ranges from $ 41,120.00 to $61,680.00 per year. Please note that the offered rate for this position typically aligns with the minimum to midrange of this grade, but it can vary based on the successful candidate’s qualifications and experience, department budget, and an internal equity review.
