About the English Language Center

The English Language Center (ELC)’s Intensive English Program and International Gateway Program are accredited by the Commission on English Language Program Accreditation. In addition, the ELC is a member of the University and College Intensive English Programs consortium and EnglishUSA.

Job Summary

Adjunct instructors needed to teach 3-13 hours per week in the following courses: ESL writing, speaking, grammar, vocabulary, content-based English (business, science, communications) and TOEFL or IELTS test preparation.  

Essential Functions

Teach 3 - 13 hours per week in the following courses: ESL writing, speaking, grammar, vocabulary, content-based English (business, science, communications) and TOEFL or IELTS test preparation. 

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of Bachelor's Degree. 
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in higher education or working with college students.
  • Able to teach academic preparation courses.
  • Able to work independently after orientation in a fast-paced academic environment (10-week & 5-week terms or short-term programs).
  • Superior level of English proficiency.
  • Able to use technology such as Blackboard, Smartboard, audio streaming and other classroom technologies.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's Degree.
  • Experience working with Chinese or Middle Eastern students.
