Job Summary
The College of Engineering’s Marketing and Communication Office seeks a creative and motivated Communications Assistant to support content creation across various digital platforms. This part-time position plays a key role in engaging both internal and external audiences by producing dynamic content for the web, newsletters, social media, and other communication channels.
Essential Functions
- Assist in creating and curating content for social media, newsletters, and the college website.
- Conduct outreach to students and student organizations, interviewing, photographing, and recording videos during college activities and events.
- Capture engaging content, including photos and videos, to highlight college events and news for social media and news feeds.
- Write compelling captions and posts for social media platforms.
- Edit and prepare video content for newsletters and social media.
- Collaborate with students, faculty, and staff to brainstorm and develop innovative ideas and content.
- Monitor trends in communications and social media, providing insights and implementing new strategies to enhance audience engagement.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of Bachelor's Degree or the equivalent combination of education and work experience.

Preferred Qualifications
- A creative approach to social media with a focus on promoting engagement.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with students, faculty, and staff to produce high-quality content.
- Strong knowledge of the latest communications and social media trends.
- Experience or coursework in journalism, communications, or public relations is preferred.
- Proficiency in graphic design and/or photography to support written content.

Additional Information
This is a Part-Time temporary position classified as Non-Exempt. The offered pay is based on the successful candidate’s qualifications and experience, department budget, and an internal equity review.
