Job Summary
Drexel University, School of Biomedical Engineering, Science and Health Systems, Huang Lab is seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Scholar to join its interdisciplinary team focused on developing a next-generation cell expansion platform (CAREp) to address current limitations in CAR-T cell manufacturing. The successful candidate will contribute to translational research efforts aimed at enhancing both autologous and allogeneic CAR-T manufacturing workflows through precision biomaterials, with applications in oncology and autoimmune diseases.
Essential Functions
- Design and conduct in vitro T cell expansion assays using CAREp microsphere stimulation.
- Optimize CAR-T expansion protocols from primary human T cells (including patient-derived and donor cells).
- Perform phenotypic and functional characterization (flow cytometry, scRNA-seq, cytotoxicity, mitochondrial fitness).
- Collaborate with internal and external partners on CAR constructs and allogeneic editing (e.g., CRISPR).
- Prepare research manuscripts, contribute to grant applications, and present findings at meetings.
- Adhere to laboratory safety, ethics, and data integrity standards.
Required Documents
- Minimum of PhD or Doctorate in PhD in Immunology, Bioengineering, Cell Biology, or related field.
- Strong skills in confocal imaging, molecular biology, and functional immune assays.
- Familiarity with biomaterials or polymer synthesis is a plus.
Preferred Qualifications
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
- Experience with T cell culture, CAR-T systems, or immunotherapy is preferred.

Additional Information
This position is classified as Exempt, grade K. Compensation for this grade ranges from $54,630.00 - $81,940.00. Please note that the offered rate for this position typically aligns with the minimum to midrange of this grade, but it can vary based on the successful candidate’s qualifications and experience, department budget, and an internal equity review.
