Job Summary

The A.J. Drexel Autism Institute is seeking to hire 2 Summer Scholars Interns.

Essential Functions

  • Summer Scholars will join AJDAI for an 8-week period of time to gain exposure to and learn about autism research.
  • In this time, they will be paired with a faculty mentor in a primary research area.
  • In this area, they will assist with a specified project(s) as asigned.
  • They will also learn skills in the research cyclesuch as: developing a research idea or hyposthesis, study set-up and implementation, study recruitment and data collection, data management and analysis, results reporting, presenting and communicating and research funding efforts.
  • They will attend lab meetings, journal club, and have opportunities to learn about clinical and outreach efforts. 
  • Developing a research idea or hypothesis.

  • Students will be learning/shadowing/participating based upon their skill set as well as the need in the program they are matched with. 

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of HS Diploma or GED
  • Minimum of 6 months to 1 year

Preferred Qualifications

  • Applicants must have experience with Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Successful applicants will have a desire to learn and have attention to detail and organizational skills, professional behavior, punctuality, responsiveness to feedback from senior personnel, teamwork skills, and strong oral and written communication skills.

  • Typically sitting at a desk/table

Additional Information

This is a Part-Time temporary position classified as Exempt. The offered pay is based on the successful candidate’s qualifications and experience, department budget, and an internal equity review.
