Job Summary

The Department of Pharmacology and Physiology is looking for a Post-Doctoral Researcher to support NIH-funded research activities within the Meucci lab. Ongoing projects focus on neurocognitive disorders associated with HIV infection and neuroinflammation in the context of substance abuse. Candidates with previous experience in these areas are strongly encouraged to apply. The ideal candidate will have outstanding communication and organization skills and thrive in a diverse environment.

Essential Functions

  • Conduct and/or analyze experiments in line with the overall research goals of the lab and funded projects. 
  • Prepare scientific reports and drafts of manuscripts (papers / grants). 
  • Help develop new techniques. 
  • Support training of new students or junior trainees in basic lab techniques.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of PhD or Doctorate in Biological Sciences / Neuroscience.
  • Experience in neurobiology or translational neuroscience setting and/or computational biology.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Time management and organization skills.
  • Highest work ethic standards.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Additionally, candidates will have the following qualifications:
  • Self-learner and motivated
  • Strong quantitative abilities
  • Proven success working independently or as a member of a team
  • Experience working with rodent animal models
  • Experience with mammalian cell culture
  • Goal-oriented and attention to details

Additional Information
This position is classified as Exempt, grade K. Compensation for this grade ranges from 4,630.00 to 81,940 $ per year.
