Job Summary
The Program Coordinator is responsible for the coordination of peer tutoring for the Center for Learning and Academic Success Services (CLASS). The Coordinator manages administrative and supervisory functions for tutoring and related programs offered through the Center for Learning and Academic Success Services both on campus and online. The Coordinator also manages the front desk and customer service efforts of CLASS and supports some administrative functions for the McGonigal Academic Resource Center (ARC). The Coordinator reports to the Executive Director of University Academic Success.
The Program Coordinator will ensure the provision of high-quality tutoring services to undergraduate and graduate students both on campus and online. This position is responsible for recruiting, hiring, training and supervising of peer tutoring staff (75-80 students) who support students in the College of Nursing and Health Professions, the Dornsife School of Public Health, and the Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences and Professional Studies, and for students participating in other programs supported by CLASS. This position also manages the Center’s Peer Facilitated Study Program. To that end, the Coordinator manages the hiring and scheduling of student staff and supports their ongoing professional development.
Essential Functions
- Coordinate tutoring for undergraduate and graduate courses on campus and online
- Recruit, hire, train, and supervise CLASS peer tutoring staff.
- Coordinate the delivery of regularly scheduled training and professional development for CLASS tutors; support professional development of tutors in conjunction with partner offices in the Academic Resource Center
- Monitor the staff’s progress through the CRLA-certified tutor training curriculum; be knowledgeable of the College Reading and Learning Association's certification process and training guidelines.
- Recruit, train, and supervise student staff to leadership positions on the CLASS Tutor Board
- Lead strategic planning and assessment efforts for CLASS tutoring services.
- Manage the center’s appointment management software.
- Manage referral responses for tutoring
- Monitor and respond to student requests for support, working closely with partners in the Academic Resource Center to ensure that student requests are responded to from appropriate parties
- Direct the compilation of tutoring records; maintain accurate data on needs, usage trends, and training.
- Coordinate peer facilitated study sessions, as needed
- Manage payroll of the entire CLASS student staff and the ARC Ambassadors
- Conduct presentations and workshops for students and University partners
- Teach sections of GSTD100, Strategies for Academic Success as qualified
- Serve as an academic coach to students, as needed
- Assist in the development and implementation of policies and regulations for the Center for Learning and Academic Success Services and in collaboration with the ARC
- Hire and supervise the CLASS front desk staff
- Assist with the hiring of the ARC Ambassadors
- Perform other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of Bachelor's Degree or the equivalent combination of education and work experience.

- Minimum of 1 year of experience working in a learning center, tutoring program, or other academic support roles/services.
- Strong customer service, organization and public speaking skills.
- Strong work ethic and an understanding of the importance of confidentiality.
- Ability to multi-task and manage multiple projects.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
- Strong organize own work day.
- Project management skills and experience.
- Ability to work occasional nights and weekends.
- Basic knowledge of computer applications, including Microsoft Office360.
- Familiarity with learning/tutor management systems.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in a higher education learning center or tutoring program.
- Experience supervising college students.
- Master's Degree.

Additional Information
This position is classified as Exempt, grade I. Compensation for this grade ranges from $41,120 - $61,680 per year. Please note that the offered rate for this position typically aligns with the minimum to midrange of this grade, but it can vary based on the successful candidate’s qualifications and experience, department budget, and an internal equity review.
