Job Summary
We invite applications for a postdoctoral research position in the area of nanomaterials synthesis, characterization, and device integration. This opportunity is part of a collaborative, multi-institutional research initiative aimed at developing advanced functional devices with real-world impact in electronics, sensing, and energy systems.
Essential Functions
- Synthesize and process nanomaterials using wet-chemical and/or solid-state techniques. Conduct advanced structural, chemical, and physical characterization (e.g., SEM, TEM, XRD, UV-Vis, Raman, etc.).
- Design, fabricate, and evaluate devices incorporating the synthesized nanomaterials.
- Analyze structure–property relationships and transport phenomena relevant to device performance.
- Disseminate findings via oral presentations, technical reports, and peer-reviewed publications.
- Contribute to the preparation of grant proposals and project reports.
- Collaborate closely with interdisciplinary research teams across institutions.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of a PhD or Doctorate in Materials Science and Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Physics, or a related field. or the equivalent combination of education and work experience. (Please review the Equivalency Chart for additional information.)
- Minimum of 1 year of experience with strong track record of independent research, scientific writing, and scholarly publication.
- Excellent communication skills and a collaborative mindset.
- Demonstrated expertise in:
o Nanomaterials synthesis and processing
o Advanced characterization methods
o Device fabrication and performance evaluation
o Transport phenomena and structure–property analysis

Additional Information
This position is classified as Exempt, grade K. Compensation for this grade ranges from $54,630.00 - $81,940.00 per year. Please note that the offered rate for this position typically aligns with the minimum to midrange of this grade, but it can vary based on the successful candidate’s qualifications and experience, department budget, and an internal equity review.
