Job Summary
The Director of Volunteer Engagement and Operations oversees the strategic direction and execution of the Drexel Alumni board and signature recognition programs for the Office of Institutional Advancement (IA). This position is integral to the overall constituent engagement strategy through effective volunteer communications, operations and project management. The Director will ensure the program goals are aligned and work collaboratively with Alumni and Constituent Engagement, Strategic Communications and internal and external partners to develop and manage successful volunteer activities.
This position has supervisory responsibility and reports directly to the Associate Vice President of Engagement.
Essential Functions
- Oversee all administrative functions of the Alumni Board of Governor’s (BOG) process-related subcommittees including nominations, grants, scholarships, by-laws, honors & awards and select programmatic subcommittees as needed.
- Prepare BOG materials and logistics including meeting support, communications, training and new member orientation.
- Manage the Alumni Endowed Scholarship program. Ensure timely awarding, disbursement and compliance. Work closely with advancement services and donor relations to track and communicate the impacts of scholarships to stakeholders.
- Develop strategies to strengthen and improve the alumni awards, student scholarships and student organization grants programs.
- Cultivate leadership volunteers and donors through virtual and in person meetings with constituents to understand their needs and desires and connect them with campus partners and engagement opportunities.
- Discover and steward select groups of donors in partnership with fundraising colleagues, Annual Giving and Donor Relations.
- Serve as the lead liaison to the Drexel 100 and 40 Under 40 alumni recognition societies.
- Collaborate with the Office of Protocol and Special Events and work closely with the Associate Vice President on new engagement initiatives.
- Conceptualize and implement the biennial Volunteer Leadership Summit to engage alumni volunteers, student leaders and campus partners.
- Serve as the central point of contact for engagement campaigns and event calendars.
- Produce internal engagement publications, such as Facts & Figures and annual reports.
- Ensure effective project management for Advancement Communications & Stewardship requests and strategic Alumni and Constituent Engagement initiatives. Supervise the Associate Director of Operations.
- Work closely with the Associate Vice President of Engagement and IA Finance & Administration on annual operating plans, program tracking and analyses, and management of the Drexel Alumni Board of Governors finances.
- Participate in IA committees and events as needed.
- Other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of a Bachelor's Degree or the equivalent combination of education and work experience. (Please review the Equivalency Chart for additional information.)
- Minimum of 7 years of related experience.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage several projects simultaneously.
- Ability to work collaboratively with various colleagues, alumni volunteers, and campus partners.
- Ability and willingness to work evenings and weekends as needed for signature Engagement events.
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent administrative skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree.
- Supervisory skills and experience.
- Strong presentation skills and/or demonstrated training experience.

Additional Information
This position is classified as Exempt, grade M. Compensation for this grade ranges from $75,200 - $112,790 per year. Please note that the offered rate for this position typically aligns with the minimum to midrange of this grade, but it can vary based on the successful candidate’s qualifications and experience, department budget, and an internal equity review.
