Job Summary

The Autism Services, Education, Resources, and Training (ASERT) collaborative conducts autism trainings for professionals across the justice system in order to increase their awareness, knowledge, and understanding of autism. These trainings also provide concrete tips and strategies to more safely and productively interact with autistic people in their profession. This position seeks an autistic self-advocate to join these training efforts in our efforts to ensure that lived-experience is fundamentally represented in across trainings. The Justice System Training Supporter will collaborate with our Justice Project Coordinator to attend and participate in training efforts, as well as inform the content of trainings to most accurately reflect the perspectives of the autism community.

Essential Functions

  • Attend and participate in ASERT training efforts 
  • In partnership with the Justice Project Coordinator and other Justice System Training Supporters, inform the content and delivery of trainings as part of a constant assessment process 
  • Other duties as assigned 

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of a HS Diploma or GED 
  • The intention of this role is to be as inclusive as possible to the various strengths and challenges of individuals across the autism spectrum, however, given that this role involves participating in trainings, applicants will need to be able to communicate with audiences.
  • Applicants must be able to commit to a set number of trainings each month, decided by the Justice Project Coordinator and supervisor.
  • Applicants need to be able to collaborate with the Justice Project Coordinator and supervisor to routinely update the delivery and content of training, and plan their responsibilities within each training effort.
  • Ability to use Zoom or other video conferencing software to support virtual training sessions.

Additional Information

This is a Part-Time temporary position classified as Non-Exempt. The offered pay is based on the successful candidate’s qualifications and experience, department budget, and an internal equity review.
