About the Dornsife School of Public Health
The Dornsife School of Public Health at Drexel University is a CEPH accredited School of Public Health founded in 1994 on the principle of health as a human right and the recognition of the importance of social justice as a means to achieve health for all. With enrollment of over 350 students, Dornsife is the #1 school of public health in Philadelphia and in the top 15% in the nation according to U.S. News & World Report's 2021 rankings of the nation’s best graduate schools. Our mission is to provide education, conduct research, and partner with communities and organizations to improve the health of populations. We define health broadly to encompass physical, mental and social well-being and not merely as the absence of disease or infirmity. We view the focus on the health of populations as a distinguishing feature of the field of public health. Our story weaves together three public health challenges: urban health, health equity, and policy translation in a way that is inclusive and broad, that allows us to have focus but at the same time engages new ideas and new areas. Most importantly, we recognize the value of diversity (where we come from, who we are, what we know, what we do, our history) to all of our work, because this diversity is critical to our ability to develop, embrace new things, and achieve our goals.
