Job Summary

The Recreation Assistant is a Per-Diem position assisting the Manager, Hafter Center in programs and operations at the Elkins Park recreational facility. This position is responsible for assisting with facility oversight, membership management and customer service, as well as acting in personal training or group exercise instruction as needed. The Assistant will assist in ensuring consistent coverage and operations during evening and weekend hours.

Essential Functions

  • Provide professional presence and user interaction/assistance.
  • Contribute to positive user experience in the Recreation Center – proactive interaction, provide assistance to users, guidance to staff, & provision of passive educational materials.
  • Conduct fitness assessments and floor orientations for Drexel students & Hafter Center members.
  • Cover events throughout the calendar year, including some evenings and early mornings.
  • Respond to emergency situations and inclement weather for facility management.
  • Maintain an understanding of the Department's role in accomplishing the University's mission.
  • Collaborate within the Department and division to create fun, engaging activities, events and programs for students on campus and the surrounding community.
  • Other duties may be assigned. 

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of a Bachelor's Degree and related experience.
  • Excellent communication, organization, management, leadership and professional skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively as a member of a goal-oriented team
  • Ability to work on occasional weekends, evenings, and early mornings.

Preferred Qualifications

  • At least 1 year of related experience.
  • A demonstrated ability to take initiative, problem-solve, and meet deadlines.
  • A working computer knowledge using Microsoft Office in a Windows/network environment.

Additional Information

This is a Part-Time per diem position classified as Non-Exempt. The offered pay is based on the successful candidate’s qualifications and experience, department budget, and an internal equity review.
