Job Summary

The Career Services Advisor is a student-facing and data-informed role within the Center for Career Readiness serving graduate and undergraduate students in the LeBow College of Business. Reporting to the Director of the Center for Career Readiness, The Career Services Advisor is dedicated to direct student advising and to data analysis and post-graduation outcomes reporting with operational and program support. The position does not include supervisory, program ownership, or employer relationship management responsibilities. The role maintains a designated caseload that includes, but might not be limited to, “at-risk” students, defined as students who may be disengaged, uncertain about their academic or career direction, or at risk of transferring out of the university.

Essential Functions

  • Student Career Advising:
    • Provide individual and group career counseling for undergraduate, graduate, and online students, including career exploration, job search strategies, resume/cover letter development, interviewing, and networking.
    • Support students who are undecided or exploring business majors by helping them clarify interests, connect career goals to academic pathways, and identify next steps that support retention and persistence.
    • Use career assessment tools (e.g., Focus 2, StrengthsFinder, MBTI) to assist students in exploring career interests and goals.
    • Support students navigating recruiting timelines, employment decision-making, and career transitions.
    • Assist students with the administrative process of registering internships for academic credit, including documentation, timelines, and coordination with relevant offices.
    • Refer students to appropriate Center, College, and University resources as needed, including academic advising and student support services.
    • Maintain accurate advising notes and student records in career management systems.
  • Career Outcomes Data Analysis & Reporting:
    • Assist with collecting, cleaning, and maintaining data related to student engagement, advising utilization, internship participation, and employment outcomes.
    • Support analysis of post-graduation career outcomes, including employment status, industry, job function, compensation ranges where applicable, and alignment with academic programs.
    • Assist with preparation of internal reports, dashboards, and summaries used for leadership decision-making, accreditation-related needs, rankings, and institutional reporting.
    • Support outcomes reporting aligned with Center, College, and national career services standards, including defined metrics and reporting cycles.
    • Collaborate with Center leadership to identify data gaps, improve data quality, and support continuous improvement efforts. 
  • Operational & Program Support:
    • Provide administrative and logistical support for advising services, outcomes collection processes, and career-related initiatives.
    • Support career courses and programming through backend coordination, tracking, and reporting (no teaching responsibilities).
    • Assist with special projects related to assessment, data management, and process improvement.
    • Prepare and present quarterly reports on KPIs to demonstrate program impact and inform strategic planning.
  • Perform other duties as assigned in support of the Center for Career Readiness. 

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of a Bachelor's Degree or the equivalent combination of education and work experience. (Please review the Equivalency Chart for additional information.)
  • Minimum of 1-2 years Experience in career advising, academic advising, student services, or a related role.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with data, spreadsheets, and reporting tools.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with students, faculty, and staff.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in higher education, student affairs, counseling, data analytics, or a related field.
  • Experience supporting outcomes tracking, assessment, or institutional reporting.
  • Familiarity with career management systems, student information systems, or CRM platforms.
  • Experience working with diverse and international student populations.

Additional Information
This position is classified as Exempt, grade J. Compensation for this grade ranges from $47,490.00 - $71,230.00 per year. Please note that the offered rate for this position typically aligns with the minimum to midrange of this grade, but it can vary based on the successful candidate’s qualifications and experience, department budget, and an internal equity review.
