Job Summary

As a member of the Drexel University Libraries (DUL) Online Resources & Acquisitions (ORA) team, the technician provides essential operational support for program staff. The technician serves as the primary point of contact for resource vendors and is an essential part of DUL's online acquisitions workflow. Reporting to the Online Resources & Acquisitions Librarian and contributing to a highly matrixed team, the technician supports and executes workflows that include "intent to renew" decisions, license renewal, changes in collection or package contents (i.e. availability and holdings), changes in vendor processes and access, and usage data gathering.

Essential Functions

  • Support the accurate and complete acquisition of online resources (i.e. books, journals, databases, audiovisual media.
  • Monitor the schedule for subscription renewals an invoice payment deadlines.
  • Communicate with staff and vendors regarding online resource acquisition and renewal decisions.
  • Triage incoming messages and workflow timelines, provide regular status reports.
  • Compile and report information resource usage data.
  • Maintain documentation of procedures and continually review workflows to maintain and improve efficiency and quality of operations.
  • Monitor and respond to client queries via online Library Assistance chat as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of a HS Diploma or GED
  • Minimum of 2 of relevant work experience
  • Ability to maintain accuracy within complex workflows
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Effectively work independently and within a team
  • Shows flexibility and initiative working with a dynamic environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in an academic and/or library environment using an ILS.

  • Typically sitting at a desk/table
  • Lifting demands ≤ 25lbs

Additional Information
This position is classified as Non-Exempt, grade G. Compensation for this grade ranges from $ 15.58 to $ 23.37 per hour. Please note that the offered rate for this position will vary based on the successful candidate’s qualifications and experience, department budget, and an internal equity review.
