Job Summary
A research assistant will participate in a translational autism research project supported by the Department of Defense. This project aims to assess the efficacy of peptides as a new drug for autism, particularly in neuronal morphology and neural circuits during brain development. A research assistant provides support to postdoctoral researchers and graduate students by preparing reagents, performing basic experiments and data analysis, preparing manuscripts and figures, and maintaining animal colonies.
This position is grant-funded; employment is contingent upon the continued availability of those funds.
Essential Functions
- Execute experiments and data analysis
- Reagent preparation
- Animal care and colony maintenance
- Manuscript and figure preparation for publication
- Help PI prepare documents
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in Neuroscience or related discipline or the equivalent combination of education and work experience.

- Ability to follow experimental protocols and reagent preparation recipes precisely
- Excellent communication skills with other lab members and the principal investigator
- Outstanding oral and written skills in English
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience in cell cultures, microscopies, anima l(mice) handling, and general molecular biological experiments.

Additional Information
This position is classified as Non-Exempt, grade F Compensation for this grade ranges from $14.10to $21.15 per hour. Please note that the offered rate for this position typically aligns with the minimum to midrange of this grade, but it can vary based on the successful candidate’s qualifications and experience, department budget, and an internal equity review.
