Job Summary
The Project Director will provide operational leadership and strategic support for the Scandinavian Prison Project (SPP). This role is responsible for managing research operations, regulatory compliance, stakeholder engagement, financial oversight, and external representation to ensure the successful implementation of SPP project goals.
This position is grant-funded; employment is contingent upon the continued availability of those funds.
Essential Functions
- Collaborate with project PI’s and initiative leads to coordinate mixed-methods primary data collection across all pilot sites
- Develop processes for internal planning and process meetings, with primary responsibility for planning, follow-up, and delegation of action items
- Work with SPP staff on the planning and implementation of SPP seminars (development, planning, and dissemination), international engagements, site visits, and other activities
- Perform academic writing, for technical and non-technical audiences
- Identify and manage communications with key academic and agency stakeholders to support SPP implementation and collaboration
- Support PIs in managing staff working on the development, submission, and maintenance of IRB protocol(s), including amendments, reliance, and updates, IC agreements, and subcontracts
- Coordinate management of contracts (financial and employment) and data-sharing agreements, including SPP subcontracts
- Support budget management activities and contribute to financial and substantive reporting to project funders
- Contribute to research activities, outputs, and deliverables, as appropriate
- Assist in the development of future grant proposals to sustain and expand project initiatives
- Attend, on behalf of SPP leadership, planning and administrative meetings with agency partners
- Represent the project at external convenings, public forums, and policy discussions, as warranted
- Participate in site visits, in Pennsylvania and Scandinavia, as needed
- Other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of a Master's Degree in Criminology or related field, or the equivalent combination of education and work experience. (Please review the Equivalency Chart for additional information.)
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in criminal justice or related field.
- Ability to travel domestically and internationally throughout the year.
- Valid Passport.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in project management within the public sector or prison setting.
- PhD or doctoral degree.

Additional Information
This position is classified as Exempt, grade L. Compensation for this grade ranges from $62,630 - $93,95 per year. Please note that the offered rate for this position will vary based on the successful candidate’s qualifications and experience, department budget, and an internal equity review.
