Job Summary

Community Outreach & Intervention Facilitators will support a five-year, NIH-funded research project focused on improving sleep, stress recovery, social connection, and wellbeing among men living in low resource communities in Philadelphia.

This is a half-time (50% effort) position that combines community outreach and participant recruitment with delivery of a structured group-based health and wellbeing intervention. Working closely with the Principal Investigator, Program Manager, and research team, facilitators will help identify and engage potential participants, support screening and enrollment, maintain participant contact throughout the study, and facilitate or co-facilitate intervention sessions.

Facilitators will receive training in recruitment, participant engagement, group facilitation, research ethics, intervention delivery, and study procedures.

This position is grant-funded; employment is contingent upon the continued availability of those funds.   

Essential Functions

• Community Outreach and Recruitment
• Conduct community outreach and participant recruitment in partnership with community organizations and local stakeholders.
• Share study information with potential participants through community events, referrals, outreach activities, flyers, social media, and other approved recruitment strategies.
• Support responding to participant inquiries and clearly explain study participation.
• Support participant screening, enrollment, scheduling, reminders, and follow-up.
• Maintain accurate recruitment, outreach, and participant-tracking records. 
• Build and maintain relationships with community organizations, referral partners, and potential participants.
• Work with the Program Manager and research team to identify and address recruitment and retention challenges. 
• 40%% - Intervention Facilitation
• Facilitate or co-facilitate structured group intervention sessions using the project curriculum and facilitator guide.
• Create a welcoming, respectful, engaging, and nonjudgmental environment for participants. 
• Guide conversations and activities related to sleep, stress, coping, relationships, social connection, masculinity, health, and wellbeing. 
• Encourage participant engagement while respecting individual experiences, perspectives, and boundaries.
• Prepare for intervention sessions and participate in facilitator training, supervision, planning, and debriefing.
• Complete required attendance, session, fidelity, and participant-contact documentation. 
• Follow established procedures for responding to participant concerns, distress, or requests for additional support.
• Maintain confidentiality and appropriate professional boundaries. 
• 20%% - Project and Participant Support
• Maintain regular communication with participants to support engagement and retention.
• Participate in team meetings, trainings, supervision, and project-planning activities.
• Assist with community events and other study activities as needed.
• Communicate regularly with the Program Manager regarding recruitment progress, participant engagement, and implementation needs. 

Required Qualifications

• Experience working with community members through outreach, recruitment, education, service delivery, organizing, facilitation, or similar activities.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to build trust and rapport.
• Comfort speaking with individuals about research participation and health-related topics.
• Ability to facilitate or co-facilitate conversations about potentially sensitive topics.
• Strong reliability, organization, follow-through, and attention to detail.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and follow structured research procedures.
• Ability to work collaboratively as part of a community-engaged research team.
• Availability for scheduled evening intervention sessions during active intervention periods.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience recruiting participants for research, health programs, community services, or similar initiatives.
• Experience facilitating groups, workshops, peer-support activities, or community programs.
• Experience working with Latino communities, men's health programs, or community-based organizations in Philadelphia.
• Spanish-language proficiency is welcomed but not required.
• Previous research experience is helpful but not required.

Additional Information
This position is classified as Part time Non-Exempt, grade I. Compensation for this grade ranges from  $21.71 to $32.57 per hour. Please note that the offered rate for this position will vary based on the successful candidate’s qualifications and experience, department budget, and an internal equity review.
