Job Summary
Assist Dr. Alison Carey with research using techniques that include animal husbandry, cell tissue culture, nucleic acid manipulation and analysis, flow cytometry, and viral infection assays and procedures.
Essential Functions
- A position as a Research Assistant I is available for a motivated and detail-oriented team-player. You will work in a supportive, team-based atmosphere in a small, growing group dedicated to studying the development of the infant immune system in babies born at term and those born prematurely.
- The Carey lab is a translational laboratory using a neonatal murine model of influenza infection and human infant blood samples to determine mechanisms of the infant immune response to early respiratory viral infection.
- Techniques that will be commonly used within the position will include animal husbandry, cell tissue culture, nucleic acid manipulation and analysis, flow cytometry, and viral infection assays and procedures.
- In addition to performing experiments and analyzing data, the research technician will be expected to participate in laboratory meetings, study scientific literature and perform general lab duties, such as maintain the laboratory reagent and supply inventories and keep laboratory records (i.e., regulatory and administrative documents) up-to-date.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in or the equivalent combination of education and work experience.

Additional Information
This position is classified as Non-Exempt, grade F. Compensation for this grade ranges from $$ 14.10 to $ 21.15 per hour. Please note that the offered rate for this position typically aligns with the minimum to midrange of this grade, but it can vary based on the successful candidate’s qualifications and experience, department budget, and an internal equity review.
