Job Summary
The Assistant Athletic Trainer will be a member of the Sports Medicine team that oversees the medical needs of Drexel Athletics Varsity student-athletes. This position will be responsible for the primary athletic trainer for Women’s Lacrosse team and provide athletic training oversight of other teams as assigned. Extensive travel is required for four months of the year.
This position will start as early as mid June.
Essential Functions
- Evaluate, care, prevent and treat athletic injuries and related illnesses.
- Inform coaches on status of injuries, determine ability to compete in an event and communicate this to coach & athlete.
- Arrange medical appointments as necessary for student athletes.
- Maintain injury reports & progress notes for injured athletes.
- Make necessary doctor’s appointments and accompany student athletes to visits as appropriate.
- Serve as the primary athletic trainer for Women’s Lacrosse.
- Attend home athletic events & practice sessions for intercollegiate teams; travel as assigned with intercollegiate teams.
- Assist in coordination of day-to-day operations of the Vidas athletic training room, which includes maintaining an accurate, organized & efficient training room.
- Maintain communication with student-athletes, team physicians, coaches, performance team, and all other medical personnel involved with a student-athletes medical treatment.
- Coordinate medical insurance referral process and insurance claim management as needed.
- Other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of a Bachelor's Degree or the equivalent combination of education and work experience. (Please review the Equivalency Chart for additional information.)
- Minimum of 3 years of experience (post certification) working in an athletic training environment.
- Current NATABOC certification.
- Pennsylvania Athletic Trainer licensure.
- CPR/AED & First Aid certified.
- Experience in intercollegiate athletics.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Ability to work weekends and evenings.
- Valid US driver's license.
- Ability to travel extensively throughout the year.

Additional Information
This position is classified as Exempt, grade I. Compensation for this grade ranges from $41,120 - $ 61,68 per year. Please note that the offered rate for this position typically aligns with the minimum to midrange of this grade, but it can vary based on the successful candidate’s qualifications and experience, department budget, and an internal equity review.
