Suspension of Drexel University's Contribution into 403(b) Retirement Plan

As communicated on Oct. 10, Drexel University is suspending its contributions to employee retirement plans for calendar year 2025 as part of its multi-year plan to build financial resilience. The Division of Graduate Nursing is an academic unit in the College of Nursing and Health Professions, which houses Advanced Practice Nursing, Advanced Role MSN, Complementary/Integrative Health, Nurse Anesthesia, and Doctor of Nursing Practice, programs. The College of Nursing and Health Professions has more than a century long history of educating nurses and health professionals. Since 2002, the College has embraced the practical ingenuity of Drexel through the refinement and development of more than 25 undergraduate and graduate nursing and health professions programs characterized by the integration of learning and work through cooperative education, a culture of excellence, innovation and technology infusion, research and deep civic engagement. The College uniquely prepares clinicians to practice and lead in a rapidly changing healthcare system. The nurse anesthesia program was established in 1973 and is fully accredited by the Council on Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs (COA) and the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE). Job Summary


The Division of Graduate Nursing at Drexel University invites applications for a Non-Tenure Track Full-Time Assistant Clinical Professor for the Nurse Anesthesia program, beginning June 1, 2025. This position is primarily a daytime in-person on-campus teaching position. Evening online/hybrid teaching may be included, as needed.

Essential Functions

  •  The successful candidate will teach primarily within the Division of Graduate Nursing’s Nurse Anesthesia program and may be assigned to other areas based on need. Faculty members must demonstrate teaching excellence that draws upon the instructor's depth and breadth of knowledge, clinical experience, and scholarship. Job responsibilities include: • Maintaining a teaching assignment consistent with a full-time workload
  • Preparation of innovative teaching materials or instructional techniques 
  • Academic advisement in relation to the learning process and course outcomes.
  • Active participation in scholarship, service, and professional organization membership.
  • Collaborates with the program administrators and faculty to define, develop and implement the Nurse Anesthesia curriculum that supports the student learning outcomes (SLO).
  • Develops and implements innovative didactic instruction for nurse anesthesia core curriculum. 
  • Develops and implements innovative simulation scenarios to reinforce didactic theory and clinical practice. 
  • Active participation on departmental committees • Attend all appropriate college nursing faculty meetings, including the Philadelphia Advisory Committee.
  • Active participation on college or nursing faculty committees.
  • Develop and support student community service/civic engagement activities.
  • Support student clinical education as identified by Director of Clinical Education.
  • Demonstrate flexibility, innovation and engagement in administrative and faculty duties.
  • Ability to articulate plans and expectations in a clear and concise manner.
  • Network with key stakeholders to promote the interests of the nurse anesthesia program.
  • Model and uphold ethical and professional behavior.
  • Adhere to COA Standards and the policies of the university and college.
  • Ability to practice clinically one day per week as a certified registered nurse anesthetist (CRNA).
  • Didactic faculty meet the governing body’s requirements for teaching doctoral level courses.
  • Must demonstrate and maintain clinical competency.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of PhD or Doctorate in Nurse Anesthesia.
  • Minimum of 2+ years of experience. 
  • Doctoral degree (clinical or research doctorate) from an accredited institution required or current enrollment in a doctoral program
  • Prior experience as a nurse anesthesia educator
  • An unencumbered registered nursing license or, if out of state, eligible for licensure as a registered professional nurse in the State of Pennsylvania.
  • Current CRNA Certification/Recertification by the National Board of Certification and Recertification for Nurse Anesthetists (NBCRNA).
  • Active clinical practice as a CRNA
  • Current active membership in the American Association of Nurse Anesthesiology (AANA)
  • Active involvement in local, regional, and national specialty organizations
