Suspension of Drexel University's Contribution into 403(b) Retirement Plan

As communicated on Oct. 10, Drexel University is suspending its contributions to employee retirement plans for calendar year 2025 as part of its multi-year plan to build financial resilience. Drexel is continuing to monitor the situation and will share updates as they become available for calendar year 2026.

Job Summary

Head Softball coach is responsible for all aspects of directing the women's softball including recruiting, coaching, teaching, scheduling and administering and any all other activities related to running and growing the program as assigned by the Director of Athletics.

Essential Functions

  • Teach, coach, train and motivate student-athletes to perform at the highest level through organized team and individual sessions.
  • Provide coaching in both a team and individual setting to improve sport-specific skills.
  • Create practice plans, assist in game preparation, advise on game strategy, and provide direct coaching and assistance during games.
  • Foster an environment within the Softball program that supports the department's mission of personal growth and integrity, diversity, leadership, sportsmanship, and a commitment to athletic and academic excellence.
  • Commit to creating an inclusive team characterized by an understanding and appreciation of diversity.
  • Ensure the program complies with all institutional, CAA, and NCAA rules and regulations.
  • Select and recruit student-athletes who meet the needs and growth of the program, department, and institution.
  • Research, evaluate, contact and recruit players of high character and athletic ability.
  • Market the program to prospective recruits, community members, and club members.
  • Work effectively with administrators, staff, and coaches within the department of athletics to operate effectively within the organization's structure.
  • Communicate with all program constituents including staff, faculty, students, parents, alumni and friends.
  • Maintain excellent budget management and show fiscal responsibility. 
  • Work to foster the growth of the Drexel Softball community through fundraising and outreach.
  • Promote a positive image of Drexel University at all times Support fundraising activities by the Dragon Club and the University.
  • Supervise, develop and mentor assistant coaches to support the program's.
  • Practice good sportsmanship and the highest standards of professional conduct.
  • Work directly with the Sports Performance staff (strength and conditioning/nutrition/sport psychology/sports medicine) to create a program based on and supported by holistic performance methodology.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of Bachelor's Degree or the equivalent combination of education and work experience. 
  • Minimum of 3 years of intercollegiate coaching and/or playing softball experience.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Valid Driver's License.
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends.
  • Ability to travel domestically.
