The Charles D. Close School of Entrepreneurship is the nation's first independent school of entrepreneurship and is included in Drexel University's prestigious AACSB accreditation.  The School offers a BA in Entrepreneurship and Innovation and MS in Entrepreneurship and Innovation and currently comprises about 200 undergraduate and 20 graduate students. The Close School was founded on the premises that entrepreneurship is not just a technical process of launching new companies but is a set of personal and professional skills that foster the pursuit of innovation in both personal and career contexts.  Our courses are designed to develop the entrepreneur as a person as well as teach the process of entrepreneurship. The Close School also houses the Baiada Institute for Entrepreneurship, which offers extracurricular programming and a student incubator.

Job Overview:

We are seeking someone with a passion for entrepreneurship and an enthusiasm for working with students and student ventures. A Ph.D. in Entrepreneurship or a related discipline is required.  Candidates with a track record of research and/or scholarly contributions to entrepreneurship pedagogy are encouraged to apply.  Experience as an entrepreneur/corporate innovator, or experience with working with early-stage companies or social ventures is preferred. Experience with entrepreneurship in the global marketplace is a plus. In addition, the qualified candidate will be a team player within the Close School as we continue to build our curricular and co-curricular offerings. Candidates should also demonstrate teaching excellence (with experience in delivering courses online) and an ability to collaborate across the various colleges and units at Drexel University as the Close School is designed to be interdisciplinary.  

Essential Functions:

This is a non-tenure-track teaching position. The Teaching Professor instructs at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. The Teaching Professor provides both face-to-face and online instruction, mentors students, engages in scholarly activity (such as research publications), and commits to University and community service.

  • Preparing for and Teaching 27 credits of courses throughout the full academic year.
  • Mentoring students.
  • Academic research.

Required Education:  PhD

Required Major / Discipline: Entrepreneurship or related discipline.

Required Experience: A minimum of 3 years.

Preferred Qualifications:

Track record of research and/or scholarly contributions to entrepreneurship pedagogy. Experience as an entrepreneur/corporate innovator, or experience with working with early-stage companies or social ventures. Experience with entrepreneurship in the global marketplace.
Experience and/or desire to develop curricular and co-curricular offerings.
