Job Summary

The Assistant Director for Undergraduate Admissions serves as a primary contact for prospective students and their families, school counselors, advisors and other individuals or organizations involved in the college selection process. Key responsibilities include all aspects of the college recruitment process, including managing the application funnel and generating applications, and managing the prospective student relationship from point of application through enrollment for both first year and transfer populations.

The Assistant Director interacts with prospective students and their families during individual meetings, information sessions, and campus events to build a relationship, answer questions, and explain the benefits of attending Drexel University. The Assistant Director also counsels accepted undergraduate first year and/or transfer students through the enrollment process to facilitate a smooth transition to Drexel.

The Assistant Director will be responsible for recruiting prospective students both locally and nationally through visits to high school, college fairs, conferences, community events, and virtual fairs within a designated territory. In addition, the Assistant Director will be responsible for managing all aspects of recruitment territories, travel scheduling and planning, meeting with students, parents and guidance counselors, representing Drexel University at on and off campus events, and reviewing applications (both domestic and international).

Essential Functions

  • Assist in planning and implementing the student recruitment plan for specific admissions programs or projects.
  • Coordinate external and internal recruiting efforts for a specific College/School; plan, coordinate and supervise specific programs or projects, as assigned.
  • Correspond and/or meet with prospective students, applicants, their families, and others seeking information on admission standards, academic and non-academic programs and student activities.
  • Represent Drexel at on- and off-campus events, including receptions, forums and corporate presentations.
  • Analyze qualifications of prospective first year and transfer students utilizing established admissions standards, guidelines and criteria, reviewing unusual circumstances with senior leadership as appropriate.
  • Read student applications for admission to the University.
  • Coordinate recruitment travel; executing the University recruitment plan.
  • Support customer service needs via telephone and student inquiries.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of a Bachelor's degree and 1 year of experience.
  • Superior customer service experience.
  • Ability to work under tight deadlines.
  • Understanding of higher education.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills.
  • High level of energy and willingness to work as part of a team.
  • Ability to effectively plan, prioritize, and manage projects skillfully.
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends.
  • Ability to travel locally and domestically up to 8 weeks during Fall recruitment and up to 3-4 weeks during Spring recruitment.
  • Valid Driver's License.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 2 years of experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage and lead projects.

Additional Information

This position is classified as Exempt with a grade of J, salary range $47,490 - $71,230. The offered rate is dependent upon internal equity and the successful candidate’s competencies, education, and experience.
