Job Summary

The Custodial Technician is responsible for the cleaning of buildings, exam rooms, cafeteria, offices, classrooms and grounds of college properties, whether owned or leased.

Essential Functions

  • Performs such custodial duties as cleaning windows, ceilings, overhead pipes, floors, restrooms, etc. using a variety of cleaning equipment including brushes, brooms, dry and wet mops, floor scrubbers, floor polishers, vacuums, carpet cleaning machines and other similar equipment.
  • Lifts and moves equipment, materials and furniture such as desks and file cabinets within the same location or from one campus location to another, as required.
  • Performs outside campus work assignments such as trash removal, leaf removal, snow removal, etc., as required.
  • Performs other related duties, as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of a HS Diploma or GED.
  • Minimum of three years' experience with general building cleaning equipment.
  • One year of carpet and floor care experience.
  • The ability to work on ladders, scaffolding, or another elevated lifting platform device.
  • Ability to lift and move equipment, materials, and furniture of up to 80 lbs.
  • Knowledge of cleaning equipment used such as carpet cleaning equipment, polishers, scrubbers, etc.
  • Knowledge of cleaning solutions and their proper use.
  • Valid driver’s license in state of residence with acceptable driving history.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Ability to follow directions.
  • Ability to work independently.

This is a Full-Time Union position classified as Non-Exempt. Benefits and compensation are based on the agreed Collective Bargaining Agreement for this position.
