Job Summary

The Accommodation Coordinator position is a full-time position in the Office of Disability Resources (ODR). The Accommodation Coordinator assists the Associate Director in interpreting medical documentation, and providing support for students seeking medical exemptions and accommodations.

This is a Hybrid position, working primarily on-campus during the week.

Essential Functions

  • Reviews documentation and approves reasonable accommodations for students with disabilities.
  • Meets with students who have disabilities to discuss the impact of their condition on their ability to fully participate in the educational experience at Drexel in order to determine reasonable accommodations.
  • Communicates with students, parents, and campus partners to establish or maintain reasonable accommodations for students with disabilities.
  • Makes appropriate referrals and proposes additional supports to students with disabilities.
  • Assists with ODR outreach and events, as needed.
  • Coordinates various aspects of the Testing Center, test registration and availability, and scheduling of exams.
  • Provides excellent customer service to students, faculty, and visitors seeking information about testing accommodations.
  • Administers, proctors, and transmits results of all tests administered by the Testing Center.
  • Collects Testing Center statistics including the number of exams proctored per term and location, number of people tested, number of tests given and type of tests.
  • Makes recommendations to the supervisor concerning staffing and programming needs.
  • Trains, mentors, schedules and oversees the work of other Testing Center staff; including the hiring and supervision of part-time student workers.
  • Possesses exceptional interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in Disability Resources, Rehabilitation Counseling, Special Education, Psychology, or a related field or the equivalent combination of education and work experience. (Please review the Equivalency Chart for additional information.)
  • Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience working with people with disabilities.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to problem solve with colleagues and assist individual faculty and staff in the provision of accommodations.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of student information and records.
  • Ability to work some weekends to support admissions-related events a few times a year.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree in Disability Resources, Rehabilitation Counseling, Special Education, Psychology or a related field.
  • Experience working with students with disabilities within a higher education setting.
  • Working knowledge of Section 504 and the ADAAA, as it applies to postsecondary education.

Additional Information

This position is classified as Exempt, grade I. Compensation for this grade ranges from $41,120 - $61,680 per year. Please note that the offered rate for this position typically aligns with the minimum to midrange of this grade, but it can vary based on the successful candidate’s qualifications and experience, department budget, and an internal equity review.
