Job Summary

The Compensation Analyst will research job requirements and evaluate job positions to ensure that Drexel University is competitive in the areas of compensation. The Compensation Analyst will assist the Compensation Consultant with the administration of competitive and legally compliant compensation programs and assist with projects and prepare recommendations through a broad and thorough understanding of compensation techniques, methods, and practices. The Compensation Analyst will assist the Compensation Consultant with Compensation Survey submissions, will oversee and manage the internal communication for the Compensation team and will assist with the internal system for position evaluations and offer approvals.  This position reports to the Manager of Compensation.

Essential Functions

  • Maintains and manages the internal communication of the Compensation team, including the planning and implementation of meetings and manages the HR Compensation Email. Acts as a liaison between HR Business partners/Clients and the HR Consultants.
  •  Maintains and tracks position descriptions & ensures descriptions accurately reflect the work being performed by incumbents.
  • Leads project planning timelines for Compensation projects and initiatives. Tracks project progress and the implementation of strategies and work plans.
  • Assists with processing Compensation documents for promotions, rehires, hires, volunteers, stipends, and supplemental pays.
  • Assists with evaluating and approving all offers and position descriptions that come through internal system, PageUp.
  • Assists Compensation Consultant in assessing jobs and their respective duties to determine recommendations and appropriate salary range.
  • Assists Compensation Consultant with benchmarking jobs against survey data and other market intelligence to determine competitive compensation ranges for each position.
  • Participates in special Total Rewards and/or HR projects in support of business objectives.
  • Assists with preparing survey data submissions; works with survey providers to receive content.
  • Ensures compliance with FLSA rules and regulations.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources or a related field, or Equivalent
  • 0-2 years as a Compensation Analyst or other related analytical or database experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • CCP, SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP preferred; experience with Compensation, Analytics, and databases is a plus.
  • Experience in Higher Education strongly preferred.
  • Experience using Banner HR software strongly preferred.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, ability to prioritize and work effectively in a fast-paced environment with the ability to prioritize and complete multiple tasks concurrently to meet tight deadlines.
  • Strong understanding of HR processes and data management.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office products including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint and MS Teams.

This position is classified as Exempt, grade J. Compensation for this grade ranges from $47,490 to $71,230 per year. Please note that the offered rate for this position typically aligns with the minimum to midrange of this grade, but it can vary based on the successful candidate’s qualifications and experience, department budget, and an internal equity review.
