Job Summary 

The Information Science Department in the College of Computing and Informatics (CCI) invites applications for multiple full-time teaching faculty positions at the rank of assistant or associate professor.

Teaching faculty are a valued members of the professoriate at Drexel, as teaching is central to the University’s mission. Teaching faculty are also leaders and contributors to service at the Department, College and University levels. While not eligible for tenure, teaching faculty are full members of the faculty with all the attendant responsibilities and privileges, and the faculty life cycle includes promotion to the ranks of associate and full teaching professor. Following the University’s newly approved Non–Tenure-Track Full-Time Faculty Policy, the initial contract is for 2–3 years, and reappointment terms are typically longer.  The University also offers numerous professional development opportunities for teachers, such as programming from the Teaching and Learning Center.

CCI is located in a state-of-the-art facility with classrooms, research and student labs, and abundant space to promote collaboration and innovation.  It offers a variety of B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. degrees spanning all areas of computing and informatics.  It instills the knowledge and skills necessary for students to lead and innovate across different domains in a rapidly evolving technological landscape. 

Candidates are expected to have:

  • Expertise in one or more specialized area of information science, including Data Science.
  • Human Computer Interaction (HCI).
  • Library and Information Science (LIS).
  • Experience in information science competencies and curriculum development.
  • Experience in teaching in both on-campus and online environments.
  • Broad knowledge in information science and interest in promoting information science to a wide audience. 
  • A vision for interdisciplinary information science education in the 21st century.
  • A graduate degree in a relevant field.
  • These positions are located in Philadelphia, PA, and involve regular on-campus teaching.

Essential Functions

  • Teaching at undergraduate and graduate levels.
  • Involves regular on-campus courses/sections.
  • Serve as curricular leader in your primary area.
  • Scholarly research and service to the college and department.
  • Other duties as assigned. 

 Required Qualifications 

  • Master’s Degree.
  • Graduate degree in a relevant field.
  • Experience in teaching in both on-campus and online environments.
  • Experience in information science competencies and curriculum development.
