Parking Services Coordinator

Job Summary

The Parking Services Coordinator is primarily responsible for enforcing all policies and procedures associated with parking privileges at Drexel University and fully supporting the department's daily operations. The successful candidate is able to stand for long periods of time and travel to parking lots on the University City campus. A valid driver's license is required to operate the department's vehicle. The regular shift for this position is 5 days per week (11 am - 8 pm) and may include weekend hours.

In addition to these responsibilities, the Parking Service Coordinator plays a crucial role in ensuring quality assurance at retail locations on campus. Collaborating with Drexel retail locations, the coordinator ensures the implementation and adherence to quality assurance standards on campus. Regular inspections are conducted to ensure that retail locations are clean, well-maintained, and comply with safety standards.

Essential Functions

  • Monitor vehicles in all surface parking lots and garage for proper permit authorization and/or daily parking paid receipt; monitor lot usage.
  • Issue citations for potential violations.
  • Travel between parking lots and/or Philadelphia campuses.
  • Enforce daily parking regulations in those locations which accept hourly or daily parking.
  • Monitor lists for repeat violation offenders. Execute immobilization and tow-away procedures for illegally parked flagrant violators.
  • Monitor all parking lots for quality assurance walks. Test and monitor parking equipment such as gates and other access control devices.
  • Report potential defects and work requests to central office for processing.
  • Report safety issues immediately for corrective action.
  • Respond to customer issues in a supportive, professional, timely problem-solving manner.
  • Plan and coordinate parking arrangement for events, and ensuring smooth traffic flow and parking availability during peak event times.
  • Support front office operations as needed by answering questions (at counter or on phones), process parking permit applications & visitor requests.
  • Handle cash and credit card transactions in professional and appropriate manner.
  • Adhere to federal, state, and local guidelines while handling customer credit card transactions.
  • Complete and submit shift start and end cash/credit reports.
  • Collaborate with Drexel retail locations to ensure the implementation and adherence to quality assurance standards.
  • Work closely with retail locations to make sure the University’s quality standards align with our retailers.
  • Conduct periodic inspections of retail locations to ensure they are clean, well-maintained, and comply with safety standards.
  • Identify any potential hazards or issues and report them for prompt resolution.
  • Present a neat clean appearance at all times, wearing required uniform/clothing.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of a High School Diploma/GED.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in a customer-facing role.
  • Valid Driver's License
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends for special events, as needed.
  • Strong customer service skills.
  • Comfortable with driving between Drexel's campuses/facilities.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, especially Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • Ability to work independently under limited supervision.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with cash and credit card handling.

This position is classified as Non-exempt, grade H. Compensation for this grade ranges from $17.14 - $25.71 per year. Please note that the offered rate for this position typically aligns with the minimum to midrange of this grade, but it can vary based on the successful candidate’s qualifications and experience, department budget, and an internal equity review.
