Suspension of Drexel University's Contribution into 403(b) Retirement Plan

Essential Functions

Clinical Leadership:

  • Foster a culture of collegiality, collaboration, and respect for faculty, trainees, and staff. Provide leadership and direction to the multi-site and dispersed medical team, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, patient-centered care.
  • The Medical Director contributes to developing, implementing, and evaluating the medical practice delivery model in accordance with the goals of federal and non-federal grant funding as well as by standards set forth by the Drexel University College of Medicine policies/procedures.
  • The Medical Director will provide administrative direction and coordination of current and long-range policies, procedures and programs affecting the clinical operation to ensure operational efficiency and minimize redundancy.

Patient Care:

  • Provides regular clinical care to a panel of patients at the Partnership. Play a vital role in managing the clinical objectives for the clinic to ensure quality medical care for all patients.
  • Conduct patient evaluations, diagnose, and treat HIV-related conditions, and develop personalized treatment plans.
  • This includes serving as a consultant to offer expert advice and communicating with referring providers.

Protocol Development

  • Develop, implement, and monitor clinical protocols and guidelines to ensure best practices in HIV care.
  • The Medical Director will review, establish, and maintain patient care protocols and standards, ensuring that all federal and State policies, regulations, and guidelines for patient care are met; establishes and coordinates quality improvement, safety, and infection control programs.
  • Ensure clinical care aligns with current medical guidelines including those for vaccination, treatment, and preventative medicine as well as with regulations directed by funders (e.g., HRSA).
  • Staff Management: Recruit, train, and mentor medical staff, including physicians, nurse practitioners, and support staff.
  • Perform clinical supervision for direct reports. Provide direct supervision to Clinical Director (RN/NP)/Nursing Supervisor (RN/NP)/Office Manager, Director of Behavioral Health and Social Services and the Partnership’s Administrator including performance reviews.

Quality Assurance

  • Ensure clinical care aligns with current medical guidelines including those for vaccination, treatment, and preventative medicine as well as with regulations directed by funders (e.g., HRSA). Implement and oversee quality assurance programs to monitor and improve patient outcomes.

Collaboration

  • Maintain and grow the Partnership’s relationship with Jefferson’s Division of Infectious Diseases to provide coordinated care option for Partnership patients hospitalized at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital and those seeking specialty care.
  • Work closely with other healthcare providers, community organizations, community engagement and outreach, and stakeholders to coordinate care and services.
  • This includes participating in committee meetings at Drexel as well as in the community.
  • The Medical Director may assign another provider to be involved in such committee meetings.
  • Work positively and collaboratively with regional clinical partners to foster the growth and development of the multiple missions of the Partnership Comprehensive Care Practice.

Education and Training

  • Provide education and training to staff, patients, students, residents, fellows, external learners, and the community on HIV prevention, treatment, and management.
  • Continue and enhance the newly established HIV continuity clinic for fellows in the Infectious Diseases division at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in collaboration with the Partnership’s Director of Education.
  • Ensure development of academic growth for faculty.
  • Research, Grants, and Innovation: Stay current with the latest research and advancements in HIV care and incorporate new findings into clinical practice.
  • Act as or assign a provider to serve as Principal Investigator of multiple Ryan White grants totaling over $2 million/year and provide high level oversight of the Partnership 340B program.
  • Promote research collaboration and project development between the Partnership and external partners including Thomas Jefferson University Hospital.

Strategic Planning:

  • Participate in strategic planning and program development to enhance and expand the clinic's services.
  • Set and achieve yearly goals to support the Division’s strategic initiatives and mission and vision including but not limited to quality and safety, patient engagement, clinical care, education, innovation, and advancing existing and novel research programs in the Partnership Comprehensive Care Practice.

Financial Oversight:

  • Oversee provider clinical productivity. Work with Department Administrator on preparing the annual budget.
  • Make necessary adjustments during the fiscal year to ensure the Partnership Comprehensive Care Practice’s actual financial results are in line with budget.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of Medical Doctor (MD) in HIV/Infectious Diseases, Internal Medicine
  • Minimum of 5 years of clinical experience in HIV care, with at least 2 years in leadership/supervisory role.
  • Board Certification: Board-certified in Infectious Disease, Internal Medicine, or a related field.
  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years of clinical experience in HIV care, with at least 2 years in a leadership or supervisory role.
  • Licensure: Valid and unrestricted medical license in the state of Pennsylvania.
  • Skills: Excellent clinical, leadership, and communication skills. Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team.
  • Commitment: A strong commitment to improving the health and well-being of individuals living with HIV.
  • Knowledge of healthcare financial management
