Job Summary

The Health Education and Marketing Communications Coordinator is responsible for developing, implementing, and managing health education programs and marketing strategies to promote culturally and linguistically appropriate cancer education programs for the West Philadelphia community residents, Promise Zone and selected faith institutions.  This role involves designing and coordinating educational workshops and programs for the multi-site cancer initiative, coordinating events, and collaborating with internal and external partners to conduct and integrate cancer education programming using various educational strategies and pedagogy.  They will design and create a model of cancer health promotion intervention curricula, materials, and videos to reduce cancer risk behaviors impacting the black community and enhance access to cancer screening, treatment, clinical trials, and support services as needed.

Utilizing various marketing techniques, this role will create, design, coordinate and manage all marketing and communication strategies to reach target audiences. They will determine and implement the best approach for marketing this initiative at each of the various faith-based institutions including the use of their social media platforms and other electronic communication outlets.

This role will develop operational plans and policies to achieve health education objectives and services. They will create program evaluations to determine their effectiveness, analyze the data and submit written reports. The Health Education and Marketing Communications Coordinator will work closely with the Project Manager to ensure programs are implemented and aligned with the mission and vision of the College of Nursing and Health Professions, Lazarex Cancer Wellness HUB.

Essential Functions

  • Develop, implement, and manage health education programs, workshops to promote culturally and linguistically appropriate education programs for the West Philadelphia community residents.
  • Design and coordinate educational material, workshops and programs for the multi-site cancer initiative, coordinate events, and collaborate with internal and external partners to conduct and integrate cancer education programming across West Philadelphia to expand the reach of health education messages.
  • Organize and facilitate workshops, seminars, and training sessions on cancer health-related topics for the community.
  • Develop and utilize various marketing techniques and strategies, to enhance awareness of the Lazarex Cancer Wellness HUB initiative. This person will create, design, coordinate and manage all marketing and communication strategies to reach target audiences. Monitor and analyze the effectiveness of marketing campaigns and make recommendations for improvement.
  • Build partnerships, communicate and coordinate with community organizations, healthcare providers, and local agencies to leverage resources and enhance the cancer health education initiative.
  • Create engaging content for social media, newsletters, websites, and other communication platforms to enhance outreach. - Develop and implement evaluation tools to assess the impact and effectiveness of cancer education programs analyzing the data.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in public health preferred or similar experience, health education, marketing, communications, or similar discipline or a Bachelor’s degree with 5+ years of experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Proven experience in managing programs, health education program development, and implementation.
  • Demonstrated skills in utilizing various marketing and communication strategies to enhance program visibility and connection to services.
  • Strong knowledge of health education theories, strategies, and best practices.
  • Program evaluation and data collection skills.
  • A strong desire to serve in the community and a background in community health, community engagement, community outreach, marketing, and communications.
  • Proficiency in computer applications.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must be flexible and adaptable, as programming necessitates.
  • Must be able to work some evenings and weekends as community programs dictate.

Additional Information

This position is classified as exempt, grade J. Compensation for this grade ranges from $47,490 to $71,230 per year. Please note that the offered rate for this position typically aligns with the minimum to midrange of this grade, but it can vary based on the successful candidate’s qualifications and experience, department budget, and an internal equity review.
