Job Summary

The Library Systems Analyst will implement, integrate and maintain innovative and effective search and discovery tools and services including the Primo VE discovery service, the Esploro research information management platform and other applications that support student and faculty teaching, learning and research.

Essential Functions 

  • Assist in improving the Libraries’ current search and discovery environment through development and implementation of discovery-related applications.
  • Enhance and extend the reputation of Drexel research and researchers with solutions that link researcher profiles with citations and other metrics for their research data and publications.
  • Use Google Analytics and system tools to promote the Drexel University research and the Libraries’ content and services on the Web to increase ranking in both web-scale search engines and specific tools like Google Scholar and Unpaywall.
  • Update discovery user interface (integrations, colors, images, new features, updates).
  • Configure and monitor system jobs (data loads, batch updates).
  • Analyze and resolve system errors and provide technical support for search and discovery applications, including maintenance, troubleshooting, and upgrades.
  • Develop and maintain statistics and analytics reporting for library applications in support of library-wide quality improvement initiatives.
  • Serve as backup to LITS colleagues, supporting DUL software and hardware.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Bacherlor’s or the equivalent combination of education and work experience.
  • A minimum of 2 years’ experience.

Other requirements

  • Ability to work with different data structures, including, but not limited to XML, MARC, and Dublin Core.
  • Strong working knowledge of JavaScript, HTML, CSS.
  • Experience maintaining front-end services and tools.
  • Strong oral and written communications skills and project management experience.
  • Evidence of flexibility and initiative working within a dynamic matrixed team environment.
  • Demonstrated commitment to fostering a diverse, equitable, inclusive and welcoming work environment in both physical and cyber spaces.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in an academic and/or library environment.
  • Master’s degree in library and information science.

Physical Requirements

  • Typically sitting at a desk/table.
  • Lifting demands up to 25lbs.

Additional Information
This position is classified as exempt grade K. Compensation for this grade ranges from $54,000 to $81,940 per year. Please note that the offered rate for this position typically aligns with the minimum to midrange of this grade, but it can vary based on the successful candidate’s qualifications and experience, department budget, and an internal equity review.
